Square Enix has confirmed that partnership with Marvel is still ongoing. Affirming this partnership after the live-service Avengers game is Eidos Montreal’s next big game, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) features our favourite characters alongside their classic humor and wit we’ve come to know from the comics and their Marvel’s Cinematic Universe versions, namely Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket. The character designs are slightly different to what we’ve seen on the big screen, in a similar style to the Avengers game.
Unlike the Avengers however, GOTG is single-player game, with no online mode or additional DLCs (yet), where players take control of Star-Lord, the defacto leader of the team. Star-Lord has with him his Element Blasters, Jet Boots, and a bold combat style to take down enemies. Adding to his repertoire is the capability to order around the rest of the team as well (assuming they would want to listen to you of course) to coordinate strategies and execute skills on the fly. Players will also get to make major decisions during the game that will progress the story and change the relationships within the team.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be releasing this year on October 26. It will be available for PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders also include additional character skins at launch.
