E3 2021: Ubisoft announces Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Ubisoft closed their E3 presentation with the announcement of the Avatar game they’ve been working on. Details are still a bit limited but here’s what we know so far.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person action-adventure game and a standalone story from the first movie. The game will allow players to explore previously unseen areas of the planet the Avatar franchise is set on. The project was first announced by Ubisoft as one of the projects handled by The Division developer, Massive Entertainment, as far back as 2017.

According to Ubisoft, Pandora will be “a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters”. The story seems to follow the Na’vi in the fight to drive back the RDA forces trying to ravage the planet of its natural resources.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.

Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.

In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.

The new game will only be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox One. Frontiers of Pandora is expected to release in 2022. More news on the upcoming game will come in the future.
