After years of production delays, a falling-out between director Matt Reeves and Ben Affleck, and the initially-controversial casting of Robert Pattinson, The Batman finally has an extremey-impactful teaser trailer, officially revealed during the DC Fandome weekend.
The 2-minute trailer features Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/The Batman and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon investigating a crime spree brought about by The Riddler (Paul Dano), who leaves enigmatic messages in the bodies of his victims. Also featured in the trailer are glimpses of the cast, like Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle robbing a mansion and sparring against Batman; Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot in a short cutscene and also in a car chase; and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth in a voice-only conversation with Bruce Wayne dubbed atop different scenes.
The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
Directed by Matt Reeves, and co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman is set to premiere on October 1, 2021. The film is still undergoing production.
