The Pokemon Company surprises everyone with New Pokemon Snap!

The Pokemon Company and Nintendo finally answered everyone’s prayers after more than two decades. There’s a new Pokemon Snap game coming to the Nintendo Switch! And yes, the title is literally “New Pokemon Snap.”

The surprise came about during a livestream held by The Pokemon Company in their official YouTube page, showing a teaser of the Snap’s gameplay. The new Snap game still features the on-rails first-person (photography) shooter we’ve come to know and love from its previous Nintendo 64 predecessor, but with more species from the later Pokemon generations.

While the teaser already showcases the classic (yet impressive) gameplay, the footage is not final, and a release date has yet to be announced.

For now, let’s just be thankful for the fact that we’re getting a New Pokemon Snap in years.

Pokemon Snap was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. The game was re-released in the Wii for the Virtual Console in 2007, and Wii U Virtual Console in 2016.
