Sega unveils Game Gear Micro as part of its 60th Anniversary

Sega has begun celebrating and commemorating 60 years into the business, starting on June 3, 2020. Apart from the Anniversary Sale running until June 13th (Tuesday), Sega also unveiled the (arguably) tiniest portable console revival ever, the Game Gear Micro.

The Game Gear Micro is a small portable handheld version of its original Game Gear predecessor (which, mind you, was extremely huge and bulky) at 80mm x 43mm x 20mm, and sports a 1.15-inch display. The Micro will be sold in four different colors, each of which will be preloaded with a different set of 4 games.

The Black version will be preloaded with Sonic the Hedgehog, Puyo Puyo 2, Out Run, Royal Stone.

The Blue version will have Sonic and Tails, Gunstar Heroes, Sylvan Tale, Baku Baku Animal.

The Yellow version will have mostly Shining Force titles, namely: Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni e, Shining Force Gaiden II: Jashin no Kakusei, Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict, Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru.

The Red version will contain Megami Tensei classics: Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible, Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi, and Columns.

Each Game Gear will retail for JPY 4950 or roughly USD 50.00. Sega will also sell a package set of four Game Gear Micros for JYP 27,255, which will come with a free Big Window accessory to double the window screen size.

The Game Gear Micro is now available for pre-order in various online stores in Japan, and will ship October this year.
