E3 2019: Everything else relevant from the Square Enix Showcase

Square Enix’s E3 2019 Showcase is everything we expected it to be, with a big chunk of their time promoting two of their most talked-about games, mainly Final Fantasy VII Remake and Marvel’s Avengers. Also included as one of the day’s bigger news is Final Fantasy VIII‘s oft-requested remaster at long last. Thankfully, the company’s other franchises, both new and old, weren’t overshadowed. Here’s everything else Square Enix unveiled in their time on stage.

Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa Scarlet Grace: AMBITIONS

Both SaGa games are getting their Western releases at last. Romancing SaGa 3, complete with pixel art and interface, breathes new life on the Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Apple’s App Store, Google Play… and in a surprise addition, the now-defunct PS Vita too. Meanwhile, SaGa Scarlet Grace is making a comeback after being released in 2016 for the PS Vita in Japan only. This time, the Western release will arrive on the Playstation 4, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, App Store, and Google Play. Both have no definite release dates yet, but they’re “coming soon.”

The latest trailer for Oninaki tells the backstory of Kagachi and some gameplay footage. The top-down action RPG also gets a global release date in this announcement.

Release date: August 22, 2019
Platforms: Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

The remastered edition of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was already announced in late 2018, but only promised a 2019 release year. In this E3 2019 showcase, Square Enix now gave a more specific release period. The remaster will also feature online multiplayer coop gameplay. The original game, released in 2003 for the Gamecube, had a more local multiplayer linked via the Game Boy Advance Link Cable.

Release date: Winter 2019
Platforms: Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, App Store, Google Play

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Mobile gacha RPG Brave Exvius is getting a spinoff in a Final Fantasy Tactics-inspired lore and gameplay. No details on its release date yet, since the game’s still in development. But expect this game to arrive on mobile.

The Last Remnant Remastered

This remaster is resurfacing again, this time for the Nintendo Switch, available now.

Gears of War: Judgment devs, People Can Fly, is busy with a new project under the Square Enix banner called Outriders. The game is a coop shooter with a maximum of 3 players. More will be revealed soon.

Release date: Summer 2020
Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC

Circuit Superstars

From the creative minds at Original Fire Games via the Square Enix Collective is a top-down racing game called Circuit Superstars. No further details yet, but it looks cute and cool.

Release date: 2020
Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam

Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind

In case you missed the previous announcement, Square Enix is reminding you again that Kingdom Hearts III is getting a DLC called “Re:Mind.” Typical of a Nomura masterpiece, the DLC raises more questions than answers…

Release date: Winter 2019
Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One

That’s pretty much everything else relevant to the Square Enix Showcase at E3 2019. The other trailers were just montages of other Square Enix games previously released. Pretty sure the talk of the town is the new stuff gleaned from the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
