Star Wars IX official title, cast, and teaser unveiled!


April 12, 2019 marks the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. To top off the whole event, Lucasfilm debuted the very first teaser trailer to the ninth and final installment of the long-running Star Wars saga (video above).

Star Wars Episode IX finally has its own title, dubbed The Rise of Skywalker. The short teaser shows the returning cast of Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. Though not in the teaser yet, Kelly Marie Tran is also confirmed to reprise her role as Rose Tico. Posthumously billed as General Leia is Carrie Fisher in her final on-screen role.

Returning as director is J.J. Abrams, who also confirmed that Ian McDiarmid will reprise his role as the infamous villain, Emperor Palpatine, who was briefly heard laughing at the end of the teaser trailer. Billy Dee Williams also returns as Lando Calrissian, seen in the trailer piloting the Millennium Falcon together with Chewbacca.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is slated for Christmas 2019 (January 2020 in other parts of the world), but no definite date yet.
