Warner Bros. Japan announced today that the Rurouni Kenshin live-action film series will be concluding with a pair of new movies slated for 2020.
The two films will be adapting the Juuji Kizu no Naze/十字傷の謎 (Mystery of the Cross-Shaped Scar) and Saikyou no Teki – Enishi/最恐の敵・縁 (Most Terrifying Enemy – Enishi) arcs. Confirmed to return are actors Takeru Sato as the titular character, Kenshin Himura, and Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya. Director Keishi Otomo will also return to helm the films.
The aforementioned arcs have been adapted into OVA, with the Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen, a four-episode mini-series by Aniplex, and licensed in the west by ADV Films as Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal. The final 90-minute OVA, Rurouni Kenshin: Seisohen (Samurai X: Reflection in the west), will also be included in the final live-action films.
