The Seven Deadly Sins Anime Film to Premiere in August

The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky (Gekijōban Nanatsu no Taizai: Tenkū no Torawarebito) will open in Japan on August 18, 2018. Anyone who will purchase advance tickets, and a copy of the manga’s volume 33 from 7net will get a new 16-page storybook drawn by Nakaba Suzuki. The storybook will include stories that aren’t present in the manga’s first 17 volumes.

The official website for the anime film  also launched a trailer on June 28, 2018. The trailer featured Nogizaka46’s theme song Sora Tobira. The film is focused on a land set above the clouds populated by winged residents. Meliodas and Hawk meant to look for an ingredient known as Sky Fish, but ended up in the Sky Palace. Meliodas got mistaken for a crime committed by another boy, and got thrown in prison. Meanwhile, an army from the Demon Clan called the Six Knights of Black plans to threaten Sky Palace by awakening a beast that’s been asleep for 3,000 years.

The film features new casts and characters such as Tsubasa Yonaga as a winged-man named Sorada. Haruka Tomatsu as a winged-woman named Ellatte, who also bears a striking resemblance to Elizabeth. Toshiyuki Morikawa as Bellion, the leader of the Six Knights of Black.

The anime’s original casts are also returning to reprise their roles for the film. Makoto Uezu is the film’s scriptwriter. Keigo Sasaki is the character designer and chief animation director. Hiroyuki Sawano is the music composer. The Seven Deadly Sins anime first aired in 2014 and 2015. Netflix streamed the series in Japanese and English audio later on.
