[UPDATED] Kingdom Hearts III release date announced

[UPDATE 6/11/2018] During the Microsoft E3 2018 Conference, a whole new trailer was unveiled for the third numbered sequel in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The video showed off the world of Frozen, Tangled, and Wreck-It-Ralph. Further, it confirmed the appearance of Xehanort, Xemnas (okay wtf, two of them???), and Larxene.

In a surprising twist, Aqua makes her reappearance once again, but King Mickey might have arrived a little bit too late… The former Birth by Sleep protagonist now sports amber eyes and white hair, signifying something evil.

Just a couple of days ahead of E3 2018, the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra Tour kicked off in Los Angeles in commemoration of the game’s 15th anniversary.

During the celebration of Yoko Shimomura’s amazing contribution to the music of Kingdom Hearts, Director Tetsuya Nomura took to the stage for a special announcement about the game’s upcoming installment, Kingdom Hearts III. He frankly apologized for the delays in announcing further details but assured the audience that more will be unveiled during Square Enix’s keynote conference in E3. He capped off his announcement with the game’s release date set for January 29, 2019.

Following Nomura’s announcement, the official social networks for Kingdom Hearts and Square Enix followed suit.

We’ll have to wait for E3 2018 for more news about Kingdom Hearts III. Let’s hope this would be the one game Nomura would stick to his promised schedule.
