Baki the Grappler makes a Netflix comeback

Part of Netflix’s continuing expansion of Japanese anime content, the streaming giant has now added Baki as part of its slate. The official website for the new Baki anime was recently made public, and has revealed its first PV (above), visual, and staff details.

The new Baki anime will be adapting the Most Evil Deathrow Inmates Arc (Saikyou Shikeishuu-hen) of the New Grappler Baki manga by Keisuke Itagaki. The series will run on Netflix for 26 episodes, and will be released this Summer 2018 in Japan, and Fall 2018 for the rest of the world. The anime will also be broadcast on TV, but no schedule has been announced.

Lead character Baki Hanma will be voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki (Iok Kujan of Iron-Blooded Orphans, Yuno of Black Clover, Shidou Itsuka of Date A Live, and Haruka Nanase of Free!)

Produced by TMS Entertainment, Baki will be directed by Toshiki Hirano (Magic Knight Rayearth’s animation director), series composition by Tatsuhiko Urahata (Black Bullet, Cardfight!! Vanguard), and character design by Fujio Suzuki (009-1, Shin Getter Robo)
