Apart from the sudden Border Break announcement, Sega has also revealed that the House of the Dead franchise isn’t… dead yet. A new arcade game from the said franchise will be up and running in local Japanese arcades soon enough.

Entitled House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, the game offers your standard fare horror shooter akin to previous HotD games, with some improvements in the experience. Seats in every Scarlet Dawn arcade cabinet will be more interactive than before, with the addition of air cannons that fire wisps of air at the players on specific instances, and vibrating seats to add to the tension. Motion sensors are also equipped at the cabinet’s outer area that light up to attract passers-by.

Scarlet Dawn now runs in Unreal Engine 4, and has drastically increased the number of zombies and interactive elements on-screen compared to the previous HotD iterations. No details on the story have been given, but with a game like this… we can expect just hordes and hordes of zombies plus your usual boss battles at the end of each stage.

A preliminary test run will be held at Sega Akihabara Building 3 in Tokyo, Japan, from January 19 to 21, 2018.

No word on international release has been given.
