Netflix announced on June 21, 2018 that it’ll stream Comic Wave Films’ and Haoliner’s anthology anime project Shikioriori. It’s international premiere is set on August 4, 2018 under the title Flavors of Youth. It is also slated to make a world premiere during the Anime Expo event in Los Angeles, California on July 6, 2018. Director Yoshitaka Takeuchi and producer Norikata Kawaguchi are going to attend the premiere for a Q&A segment.
The anthology will feature three anime shorts titled Hidamari no Chōshoku, Chiisana Fashion Show, and Shanghai Koi. The shorts will take place in three different Chinese cities. The stories will focus on three themes namely food, clothing, and shelter.
Hidamari no Chōshoku will take place in Beijing, centering on the story of a youth, and a grandmother. Chiisana Fashion show will focus on sisters living in Guangzhou. Shanghai Koi’s story will happen in 1990s Shanghai, and will act as a homage to 5 Centimeters Per Second.
Writer and director Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing is making his anime directorial debut on Hidamari no Chōshoku. It stars Taito Ban as Shaomin, and Mariya Ise with the role of a child. Yoshitaka Takeuchi is directing Chiisana Fashion Show. The story stars Minako Kotobuki as Irin, and Haruka Shiraishi as Lulu. Haoliners president Li Haoling is the director of Shanghai Koi staring Takeo Ōtsuka as Rimo, and Ikumi Hasegawa as Shiaoyu.
