PlayStation Japan streamed the trailers for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 (Rockman X Anniversary Collections). The trailers revealed the games that are included in each collection. The videos also included a footage from Mega Man Maverick Hunter X: The Day of Sigma OVA.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 features Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, and Megaman X4. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 features Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7, and Mega Man X8. The collections also feature the new X Challenge mode where Boss characters in the games will join forces, and attack.

Other features include a Museum mode, Music Player, Gallery, Trailer Theater, Goods Catalog, and a bonus Mega Man Maverick Hunter X for Playstation Portable. The collections also include graphic options that can switch between the original pixel graphics, or a smoother updated graphics for the first six games. Mega Man X7 and X8 come in high resolution graphics.

Both collections will launch in the West on July 24, 2018, and in Japan on July 26, 2018. The collections will be available separately, and digitally for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. CAPCOM will offer a physical two-pack for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The PS4 and Xbox One physical edition will have a disc for each collection, while the Switch version will have a cartridge for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1, and a digital code for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2.
