Back at Capcom, the Blue Bomber’s return has been revealed, with a definite date in tow. Mega Man 11 will be available on October 2, 2018 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

True to the nature of Mega Man games, the Blue Bomber will once again take on eight new Robot Masters stolen by the devious Dr. Wily in a plot for world domination. The game comes with a new feature, the Double Gear System, a creation of Dr. Wily during his early days a scientist. The system allows the Robot Masters to push past the limits of their system and overpower our blue protagonist. To combat this, Dr. Light applied the same Double Gear System into Mega Man’s arsenal.

The Double Gear System has two main functions: the Speed Gear and the Power Gear. The Speed Gear boosts Mega Man’s maximum speed, which makes everything around him look so slow. This allows Mega Man to dodge incoming projectiles with mercurial ease. The Power Gear boosts his Mega Buster beyond its maximum power output, powering through heavy armors in a pinch. The Doube Gear System is a double-edged sword, however. Extensive usage will cause Mega Man to overheat and temporarily halt the use of the system.

The latest announcement also introduced two of the new Robot Masters, namely Block Man, who can turn into a huge golem-like giant with a thick rock armor; and Fuse Man, who can move at lightning-fast speed. Other Robot Masters have yet to be named, but a first visual of the roster has been released.

Also new to Mega Man 11 is the Blue Bomber’s appearance changes. Depending on the Robot Master he defeats, Mega Man will not only change colors, but also equip parts integral to the Robot Master’s power (like Fuse Man’s antennae and taser weapon).

Capcom will provide playable demos of Mega Man 11 in the upcoming E3 2018. Nintendo Switch owners also have a bonus amiibo Edition, which includes an exclusive Mega Man amiibo together with the base game.

Complete Editions for the Nintendo Switch and the Playstation 4 have also been teased, but the contents have yet to be revealed. Early buyers in Japan will also be getting special items such as limited edition bromides if bought from Animate, can badges or pass case from AmiAmi, metal key ring from Amazon.co.jp, or stickers from Rakuten. Pre-orders will also get an exclusive Mega Man 11 soundtrack DLC.
