Tite Kubo’s longest running and most successful serialized manga, Bleach, officially closed its chapters in 2016, while its anime series ended in 2012. However, this doesn’t mean that the doors to Soul Society have been closed for good.

Bleach will be having an extra one-shot manga in Weekly Shounen Jump this July 2018, in commemoration of its upcoming live-action film. Shueisha assured readers way back 2017 in an issue of Weekly Shounen Jump that the manga will be getting something special this year. The new one-shot was confirmed in a magazine ad in a recent Saikyou Jump issue, spotted by Twitter user @mangakeitan (and retweeted by @JaymesHanson94).

The one-shot will serve as a primer for the Bleach live-action movie, and will feature some of the best scenes from the Substitute Shinigami Arc and the Soul Society Arc. No details have been revealed yet regarding the characters taking the spotlight on the three excerpts compiling the one-shot.

The live-action Bleach film will premiere on July 20, 2018 in Japan, adapting the the Substitute Shinigami Arc. The cast includes Sota Fukushi as Ichigo Kurosaki, Hana Sugisaki as Rukia Kuchiki, MIYAVI as Byakuya Kuchiki, Ryou Yoshizawa as Uryuu Ishida, and Taichi Saotome as Renji Abarai.
