The anime adaptation of Shueisha’s classic manga, Yu Yu Hakusho, is celebrating its milestone 25th anniversary this year. And to celebrate this occasion, Yoshihiro Togashi’s masterpiece is getting a new OVA!

The new anime will be adapting two different manga chapters: the bonus chapter “Two Shot,” and chapter 174 “Noruka Soruka.” Two Shot tells the story of Kurama and Hiei’s first meeting, while chapter 174 tells the story of Yusuke and friends rescuing Koenma from a hostage crisis. The first visual for the “Two Shot” anime has also been revealed.

The milestone OVA also marks the return of the anime’s original cast and staff. Pierrot will once again be the studio responsible for the animation, with the series’ original anime director and storyboarder, Noriyuki Abe, at the helm. Reprising their roles are Nozomu Sasaki as Yusuke Urameshi, Shigeru Chiba as Kazuma Kuwabara, Megumi Ogata as Kurama, and Nobuyuki Hiyama as Hiei.

The OVA disc will be bundled together with the 4th volume of the 25th anniversary’s Blu-Ray Collection:

  • 1st volume – Spirit Detective Arc – July 27, 2018
  • 2nd volume – Dark Tournament Arc – August 28, 2018
  • 3rd volume – Sensui Arc – September 26, 2018
  • 4th volume + OVA – Demon World Arc – October 26, 2018
