It was previously reported that Sunrise unveiled a new project called Starwing Paradox, yet with scarce details. The weekend thereafter revealed more information about the latest project.
Starwing Paradox is apparently an arcade game collaboration of Sunrise and Square Enix. Dubbed as a “high speed mecha combat game,” it’s slated for a Japan-only release this Fall 2018, with a demo made available during the Japan Amusement Expo 2018 this February 9-11, 2018.
The arcade cabinets are made to look like the cockpit of the mechas featured in Starwing Paradox, with the seats meant to mirror the movement input of the mecha. Up to 16 players can play at the same time in a 8-vs-8 LAN battle.
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, from Evangelion and Summer Wars, is the project’s character designer. The mecha designers are Ippei Gyoubu (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) and Junya Ishigaki (Gundam Build Fighters, Xenogears). Yokai Watch’s Yoichi Kato is responsible for scriptwriting, while Naohiroshi Ogata (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt) will be the producer.
Mikako Komatsu, Ryoko Shiraishi, and Ayaka Suwa have signed on as part of the main cast.
