One of the largest global cosplay competitions is gearing up once again this September! The Singapore Toy, Game, & Comic Convention (STGCC) has opened up applications for the Championships of Cosplay 2017.
STGCC’s Championships of Cosplay puts a different spin to things. Rather than including a skit or choreography to the contestants’ stage times, this competition judges purely based on the creativity and craftsmanship of the costume. As such, the penultimate criterion for the contest is having a costume made from scratch, nothing store-bought.
Costumes can be from different Japanese or Western pop culture genres. The competition will be divided into different categories based on skill: needlework, armor, FX, and larger than life.
The champion gets to compete at a bigger stage, the C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in 2018. Apart from this privilege, 2 VIP tickets for C2E2 2018, economy return flights to Chicago with hotel accommodations, and SGD1000 shall be awarded to the winner.
